What the crap? I feel like someone missed something, but I double-checked the press release from the White House, and the map is correct (yes, in an attempt to avoid my Number Theory homework, I matched up all 39 parishes to locations on a map of Louisiana).

Does anyone remember why half the country thought this administration would be a competent government?

Putting to rest any nightmares, the map doesn’t correlate in any way I can find with demographics, income, voting patterns, campaign contributions, or the like. If I haven’t made an obvious mistake, I’m just hoping now that the press release simply got the list of “emergency” and “non-emergency” parishes mixed up.

In other words, more galling incompetence in the White House, albeit trivial, is really the best-case scenario.

Otherwise, we’re looking at more galling incompetence of a frighteningly non-trivial kind.

However, if this was a trivial mistake, you’d think they would have corrected it over a week ago…

    relate bush craziness…

The administration has been telling a lot of lies it appears (or at the very least, giving information that is false). For example, Bush said he didnt think anyone knew the levees would break, when in fact several days before the Hurricane hit there were articles on how the levee would likely break. There is a lot more of those sorts of things here (with links to the actually articles to back up the claims): http://www.thinkprogress.org/katrina-timeline if you care to take a look
